Bridget is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN), and Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) with a Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition. Bridget completed her undergraduate degree in nutrition at West Chester University in Pennsylvania and went on to complete her dietetic internship and Master's degree at NYU. Bridget previously worked in private practice in Manhattan, counseling individuals with regarding various aspects of health, including weight management, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, heart disease, IBS, and gestational diabetes. For the past five years, Bridget has been working in the outpatient oncology setting at a large hospital, proving nutrition counseling to patients before, during, and after their cancer treatment. Bridget is also a Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO).

Understanding What Midwifery is and if it's a fit for you - Dr. Julie Blumenfeld

Julie Blumenfeld, DNP, CNM, IBCLC (she/hers) is a Clinical Assistant Professor & Program Director of the Nurse-Midwifery and Dual Women’s Health/Nurse Midwifery Doctor of Nursing Practice Programs at Rutgers School of Nursing.

Dr. Blumenfeld is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. She began her work in healthcare as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala and Paraguay where she worked on community-based health education projects. She worked as a midwife at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and, for the last 20 years, at Capital Health in Trenton, NJ. In this capacity, she provides midwifery care for a predominantly newly immigrated, Spanish-speaking Latina population. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Blumenfeld is dedicated to serving the community in Trenton. Since 2001, she has worked in a variety of roles in the city serving at-risk infants, children, youth, and families. Most recently, she serves as the clinical consultant to a new Spanish-language community doula program.

Dr. Blumenfeld is committed to health policy and advocacy. She serves on the NJ Board of Medical Examiners Midwifery Liaison Committee and is Chair of its Health Equity Sub-Committee, the NJ Maternal Care Quality Collaborative, and the NJ Maternal Mortality Review Committee. Additionally, she was a member of the New Jersey DMAHS/DOH Doula Stakeholder Committee (2019-2021). Dr. Blumenfeld is active in the American College of Nurse-Midwives at both the local and national levels. She currently serves as the President of the New Jersey Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and as Vice President of the College’s State Government Affairs Committee.

In addition to a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Rutgers University, Dr. Blumenfeld holds a Master of Science in Nursing as a Nurse Midwife from the University of Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from New York University, and a dual Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Spanish Literature from Bowdoin College. In 2021 she was as accepted to a Fellowship at the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Melissa earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Richard Stockton University in 2014. She has worked in outpatient and acute care settings and is passionate about promoting healthy lifestyle changes to enhance physical well-being. She earned her CAPP-Pelvic certification through the APTA Women’s Health Section in 2019. With her knowledge and passion for exercise and manual therapy, Melissa hopes to be a resource for pelvic floor education by providing a safe, nurturing environment to work in conjunction with you to achieve your specific goals for rehabilitation. She is a mother and runner herself and has a strong interest in working with athletes as well as pre-and post-partum patients.

Jonathan Spergel, MD, Ph.D., is the Chief of the Allergy Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He holds the Stuart E Starr Chair of Pediatrics. Areas of Expertise: Asthma, Atopic dermatitis, Allergic rhinitis, Drug allergy, Eosinophilic esophagitis, Food allergy, Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome, Hives, IgE-mediated food allergy, Mast cell diseases, Other skin disorders, Venom allergy

Jonathan Spergel, MD, Ph.D., works with patients and families to find the most holistic treatment options available. He identifies therapies that help patients manage or overcome their conditions, so they can enjoy being kids. It is important to him to find the right solutions that offer the fewest side effects and increase the quality of life of his patients. Dr. Spergel’s specialty is allergy and immunology. His clinical interests include food allergy, eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease, and eczema (atopic dermatitis). He is especially interested in the link between these conditions.

Dr. Spergel participates in active clinical and translational trials on food allergy, eczema, and eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease. In his research, he examines the natural history of these conditions and explores new therapies. He examines biomarkers that can lead to the development of each condition. His goal is to optimize care and therapy to improve the lives of patients
